We are officially open! After months of renovating and perfecting the menu, we are officially open for lunch, brunch, happy hour, dinner and late-night happy hour. To share the news about our opening, Susan Bryant from southflorida.com shared some of our menu items and restaurant happenings. Below is an excerpt from her article.
Our double chocolate cake, made with fudge icing, chocolate sauce and whipped cream ($7), resembles a fortress, and is one of the most decadent desserts on the menu. Other dessert options include apple cobbler, Crème Brûlée and ice cream sundae, which are all housemade.
Co-owners, and former partners of Burt Rapoport’s restaurants, Eric Clark and Jon Greening debut their first joint modern American venture in the former Brewzzi location on Glades Road in Boca Raton.
“It’s food that’s on the edge and affordable. Our price point is very fair,” Clark says.
One of Chef Greening’s favorite menu items is chile-glazed shrimp with udon noodles ($23). “The aromatics — lemongrass, kaffir lime and ginger — carefully season the coconut-curry broth,” he says.
Other highlights include charcuterie and cheese board ($14, $21), poached pear-quinoa salad ($15), shellfish-and-sausage pasta ($23), pan-roasted Skuna Bay salmon ($27) and dry-aged New York strip ($35).
“Our Maui pizza is a rendition of the classic Hawaiian using smoky speck instead of ham and balancing the sweetness of the roasted pineapple with the acidity of house-pickled jalapenos [$14],” Greening says.
Bartenders customize specialty cocktails upon request, such as the Squarejito with banana rum, mango and mint ($12). The restaurant also features a complete bar with local taps from breweries in the area, as well as an extensive wine list.
Lunch and dinner are served daily amid a plethora of mahogany booths, ivory walls, reclaimed bamboo, whitewashed brick and an arched Florida pine ceiling. An indoor-outdoor bar bridges to a wraparound patio that is dog-friendly and perfect for outdoor dining in the shade.
Clark and Greening look forward to serving local community members and providing elevated food options in a comfortable environment. Square One American Restaurant & Bar has plenty of free parking and is conveniently located close to I-95 for easy access, as well as close to the Town Center mall. Hours range from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
